Rocca FregosioS. Agata Feltria (PU)
From 1878 on, the building has been affected by the subsidence of the arenaceous mass on which it is built, the landslide 1961, which caused the building to be evacuated. In the wake of further collapses, urgent reclamation and strengthening interventions commenced in 1965 but were never completed.

The building being reopened to the public in 1977, after some cursory maintenance work. In 1993, a staggered programme of works was launched for renovating the roof coverings and strengthening the perimeter walls. This was part of a overall project approved by the Monuments and Fine Arts Office that would enable it to be used for temporary exhibitions; this also provided for the renewal of the internal electrical systems.Photography & Project by Spira Srl
The interventions, resumed in 1999 and extended by the new working project (2004) to cover the entire complex with the objective, together with the structural rehabilitation and the reclamation of the internal spaces, to adapt the complex to comply with the current building regulations consenting the building to be fully utilized by the public.Photography & Project by Spira Srl

Additional Info
- Abstract:
- Perched on a rocky spur overlooking the little hamlet of Sant’Agata Feltria, the Rocca is featured on a tourist itinerary that links it with the other rocky fortifications within the area ‘Alta Val Marecchia’, which includes San Leo, Pennabilli, Maiolo and Verucchio. Having wrested it from the Malatesta family in 1462, Federico da Montefeltro extended and reorganised the pre-existent structures and, with the addition of the carinated towers, the fortress took on the look it has retained to this day.
